My extended stay in Seattle was made a little happier last night when I returned to the comedy stage at Seattle's premiere (I'm just saying that, I have no evidence) comedy hotspot,
Giggles.
Inside this place there are autographed headshots of stars from their younger days - Jerry Seinfeld, George Lopez, Ellen Degeneres and dozens and dozens of others - hanging on every wall and hallway. It's the kind of place I'd like to see my autographed headshot hanging.
And, after a show there last night, I'm feeling like my comedy dream may not be so far out after all.
It had been a few months since I've performed comedy, mostly because my local stage had been shut down. Unexpectedly. Without warning.
I didn't really lose any sleep over it. In fact, I kind of saw it as an opportunity to cut one of my far-too-many hobbies from my life. At least for a bit.
But, after a killer show at Giggles - I can't even believe that name, either - I think I'm back. Reed the Comedian returns.
Now, that doesn't mean I'm going to continue to perform. I'm just feeling a little bit extra confident after last night's show, which I also should admit was in front of a crowds of twos and twos. But that's what boosted my confidence.
I didn't need a huge crowd. Or booze. Or cussing (they frown on that in a big way a Giggles). It was just me, my standard pop-culture jokes (Sorry, Tyra) and a microphone.
This is how it all started for me. And now I've taken on Seattle's comedy circuit. Next stop ... well, we'll see.
